Polo Enterprises Australia brings the modern game of polo to Sydney with a one day invitational tournament in Centennial Park on December 9, 2006. The inaugural Polo In Centennial Park event was sponsored by the manufacturer of the Bombardier Learjet, Bombardier Aerospace.

Two polo exhibition matches were played on the day by four teams. Team sponsors were Azimut Yachts, BLUE Sydney, Bunda Fine Jewels and GH Mumm Champagne. Azimut Yachts  played Bunda in the first game, followed by Mumm versus BLUE Sydney in the second game.

Competing in the Bombardier Learjet Polo in Centennial Park tournament was Ruki (Jack) Baillieu, Australia’s leading polo player and ranked among the top 40 players in the world. Baillieu turned professional in 1997, plays off an eight-goal handicap and is only two goals away from achieving the highest ranking possible. Baillieu is widely regarded as the most successful Australian polo player since Sinclair Hill, who retired in the early 1970s. Baillieu scored the winning goal while representing Australia against England at the Cartier International in 2005.

Ruki Baillieu will be joined on the field by players including Glen Gilmore, Richard Rawlings, Hamish McGregor, Adam Meally, Andrew Wiliiams and Ric McCarthy. Baillieu spends most of the year travelling the world’s polo circuit and the Bombardier Learjet Polo in Centennial Park tournament was a rare opportunity for him to showcase his skills in Australia.
